Timothy Carey is the Health and Safety Team Leader for the Iowa Department of Transportation, where he has served for more than 16 years. In his role, Tim oversees statewide OSHA compliance, employee health and safety initiatives, safety training development, and the workers’ compensation program. He also supports organizational risk management as a member of the Iowa DOT Threat Assessment Team. Tim holds a master’s degree from Drake University, along with professional certifications in safety and instructional training. He recently concluded his term as president of the North American Association of Transportation Safety and Health Officials (NAATSHO) in 2025 and continues to advance national collaboration in transportation safety.
