Michael Lane is the Statewide Safety Director for the Indiana Department of Transportation with 36 years of experience in the construction industry. Prior to joining INDOT, Mr. Lane spent nine years in the rail construction arena, with much of that time serving as regional Safety Director with RailWorks, North America's largest railroad construction and maintenance contractor. Mr. Lane has also provided safety leadership for landfill development, blast furnace rehabilitation at US Steel’s Gary facility, as well as an Enbridge crude oil pipeline leak remediation project. Prior to entering the safety management field, Mr. Lane spent 18 years as a foreman and heavy equipment operator on a wide variety of infrastructure and heavy highway projects.
