Michael Williamson, PE, PhD, RSP, PTOE graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelor's and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering, with a focus on transportation. He also graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Doctorate in Engineering Science with a focus in Transportation Safety. He holds a PE in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Missouri. He is also certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and Road Safety Professional (RSP) through the Transportation Professional Certification Board. After a 10-year career in academia, teaching civil engineering courses and conducting research, he moved to the private sector. He currently works as a project manager at Kaskaskia Engineering in the traffic and transportation groups, performing traffic modeling, traffic impact studies, capacity analysis, safety studies, warrant analysis, traffic signal timing analysis, signal optimization, traffic signal design, report writing, and research.
